 As the United States gears up for their presdential election,a few thoughts cross our minds.Don,t take this the wrong way,as in a democratic country its good to hold multi party elections as this strenghens the democracy.
How ever we sitting in far away 
South Africa are completly
 agahst at the choice of Democratic candidates. Old main candidates ,one obviously suffering from the start of  senile dementia,the other one having suffered two main heart attacks and many minor incidents with ideas and slogans that were in vogue in the 1920ties ,hardly  fitting now . 
Both these  "main candidates" as well as the unlikable Bloomberg seem to have no idea on topics that need answering such as work oportunities,health a great economy etc. ,but just run on hate of Trump!
Surely with so many members they ought to find a personable candidate that wont buckle under the wily foreign leaders they will have to deal with! This is of great importance to our country here as we all have to trade  worldwide and find a good government.
Honestly at the moment only President Trump one of the few leaders who carries out his promises stands to forfill this role. If not him then Bloomberg does know more about international affairs than the rest. I am 82 years of age,have been in politics as well as business my whole life,but do forget things from time to time.That i am too old to even think of being in a political position or a business leader now.

Event Influencing Investment

  What with a new strain of influenza and the different reaction to it ,compared with the past ,the almost impeachment of President Trump ,Brexit and the usual tensions between major nations reaching a higher level of late,the frothy stock market went into a tailspin and started to slide!
    All the signals that the market was too high were there as they have been for some time. Tipsters as always say ,there are pockets of stocks that are still worth buying and nobody screams a downturn is about to happen! Politicians will now be glad of these events as one can hardly blame it on their specific influence!
  In the good times that have ruled of late stocks  ran ahead of what was wise and a correction was inevitable. The downturn is not a real recession although stocks might drop by 12%to 24% on average,depending how hard 
 they have run.
   We now consider stocks on a sounder footing,and in our opinion only would present a buying opportunity as many positive events regarding China and other play out.
   Stocks should be bought for a steady gain as dividends increase over years rather than trading on shorter terms which mostly ends up losing money as it becomes just a gamble otherwise. Only traders with years of experience should trade in short term instruments.
 In wondering what to buy look at good stocks that have decreased by about the average in their particular sectors. Do not choose stocks that are not trending .Do your own research before jumping in. Do not expect to be successful all the time.

Never in any of the life times of people living today has a developed country had a chance to literally start again an opportunity now presented to this country ,with the majority of the adult population opting for Brexit,having now a strong leader an obvious goal ,a first world economy,now having been freed from the onerous rules and regulations of the European Union. 
Being able to freely trade and sign agreements that enhance the the well being of the inhabitants. By concentrating on the singular idea i.e. "to get Brexit done" the voters what ever their normal political pesuasions having put those aside for the good of the country,something the selfish politicians could learn from.
Far be it for me to claim to to fortell the future ,but a feel it in my bones that the gross domestic product is like to outshine any of the past decades results.

2020 EVENTS and TRENDS

The old year is almost over and a more evenful year might lie ahead.

1. Although not many people realise it,the cold war is back in full swing. Much of the 

western democratic world have been slow on the uptake ,blaming their local leaders such as President Trump as he is a fairly brash figure for tensions with Russia and China. 

For a long while now Russia has been "pushing the envelope" so to speak,on trying to influence, by new methods such as Facebook,Twitter ,Smart phones and other such devices other countries outcomes in their favour. Russia is still in the recovery mode after they deposed a more moderate leadership ,in their eyes, as at that time they ran out of funds and turned to the West democratic countries for support.This is the common failure of socialism ,the lack of money.

  China was in a much stronger position being a much more cohesive state totally a dictatorship,using the rest of the worlds resources,with little respect for rules,trademarks,realising that time is a good tool to achieve what they aspire to for the future as human life has very little meaning to them.

    Here in Russia its greatest ally China leaves the Russians between a "rock and a hard place" as it shares a very long border with China and at the" drop of a hat " China with its over populated country can turn on Russia as this country is vastly under populated.!

 2. Ocean mining of all  nuggets of different TYPES is likely to play an increasing role in future ,also called resource harvesting with all its implications, Grabbing of open seas such as China is now tryin to do,taking away other countries rights,breaking treaties is also in full swing.

3.The United States does not want to enter into a trading agreement with China as they try to undermine HONG KONG as they seem willing to break their agreement that they gave the British that they would honour their agreement that would see this former British as an seperately ruled state up to at least 2047!

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CLIMATE CHANGE AND SAFE ENVIRONMENT.

We all want a safe  healthy environment to bring up our families and countrymen. Further we all strive to be well cared for and happy. We also try to be productive so enhancing our own well being as well as others in all societies.

We are not children so might say,so why remind us of this? Well just because we are bombarded by activists who tie everything to climate change.
Climate changers usually have a hidden agenda,be it transferring gazillions of money to lazy less developed countries ,or other more hidden forms of human behavioural needs.
 First it was "global warming" then as things did not quite work out the words climate change were used.The thing most hated by us is the use of young children to get their message across.
 If you look back at my writings on this subject some years ago i speculated that we could be headed for a new ice age. This might happen more rapidly than we think,but ,no one can actually give an accurate time frame. 
This week scientists have found signs of thickening occuring at the poles . Another group of astronomers have found the earth has altered its trajectory i. e. orbit round the sun .It has moved further away and this cooling effect they say would definitely result in a true ice age.

   COULD BE THAT THE "LETWIN "AMENDMENT IS A BACK DOOR BY THE CONSERVATIVES TO PREVENT THE OPPOSITION FROM SEIZING THE HIGH GROUND AND DICTATING EVENTS FROM HERE ON!  IT CAN WORK! 
HOWEVER IT CAN GO HORRIBLY WRONG AND RESULT IN "HUNG" DECISIONS IF ALLOWED TO DRAG ON INDEFINITELY!

THE ORIGINAL IDEA WAS NOBLE OF 
GIVING THE VOTE TO THE POPULACE 
THROUGH 
A REFERENDUM AS THERE HAS ALWAYS 
BEEN DISATISFACTION BY THE UNITED KINDOM CITIZENS OF RULE FROM BRUSSELS AS THE FEELING THAT THEIR NEEDS WERE NOT UNDERSTOOD BY MAINLAND EUROPE.
   Underlying this these independent peoples of the British Isles enjoyed the structures of no written constitution which a great deal of trust to make the system work and having a constitutional monarch at the head guaranting that this would continue for all time.
Europe was slowly whittling these freedoms away.
  Now of course opposition parties to the government are more interested in winning power than  finding a way out of this mess and by-passing the populace,while filling the voters heads with heads with horror stories of what awaits them if they leave the European Union!
   All this delay is having a horrendous effect upon industry as preparing for exit at each given date costs individual companies many millions of pounds.
 What is required if only a blip in this most democratic of all countries is for a strong leader to proceed with the exit as soon as possible,then sort out all processes that are 
skewed later.Self interest of the stayers and those afraid of their own shadow must be overcome.
