MINING JULY 2020

Mining wordwide has taken the" back seat" during the Corana virus Pandemic, how ever as long as humankind dwells upon this earth of ours, minerals will be needed to maintain the sophisticated society we have built up over the centuries.
Mines are revamping again, how every its taking a bit longer for demand to pick up.During the lock down it was startling to see how clean the atmosphere was and how good this was for our health cutting down the contaminants we usually breathe in to almost zero.
Interesting to see how the various basic smelting facilities belonging to the different mining groups are using the pandemic to close the older smelters that are not efficient and heavy smog producers with new ones closer to the mines. We are sorry for the workers, but as an asthma sufferer myself am pleased as as a secondry gain our roads are not being carved up by the overweight road transporters,as our railway carriers have almost totally collapsed since the new rulers since1994 are more interested in stealing money than paying for the upkeep of rolling stock and train lines!
Gencore/Extrata has closed the primary chrome smelter here in Lydenburg.
This town will now probably revert to being a retirement destination with its usually moderate climate again. Beautiful scenereny sixteen waterfalls scattered through out Leydenburg,Sabie and Graskop. By the way one muncipality decided by the new rulers, just to be different!
